Julia Junkin: The
Artist
Julia Junkin is the artist and
co-owner of Julia Junkin StudioΖ, a leading manufacturer and
distributor of ceramics and gift items. Julia was born and
raised in the Midwest by a father who was an artist and a
mother who was in the culinary arts. Her work has been
influenced by both of them; her father inspiring humor and
spontaneity and her mother instilling in her love for food and
wine. Julia's inspiration in painting comes from the idea of
"still life." She defines that as, "a moment in time where
friends, food, wine, the outdoors and magic meet to make the
ordinary moment extra-ordinary."
As the artist for Julia Junkin Studio, she combines beauty and
function to set an artful mood with her line of hand-painted
ceramics and linens. Her most popular lines include olives,
reminiscent of Tuscany; a whimsical red wine and white wine
story. All her lines include serving pieces, bowls, cocktail
plates, trivets, wine coolers, cheese platters and more
recently dinner plates.
In addition to the colorful food and wine themed ceramics,
Julia licenses designs to compliment her ceramics in linen,
glass, paper and porcelain-handled serving pieces. These
wholesale partners include Western Linen, Wine Things
Unlimited, Pacific Merchants and House of Prill. Please refer
to the "Other Products Page" for information on these partners
Julia attended the Academie des Beaux in Aix-en-Provence and
Cornish School of Arts in Seattle. She lived in Seattle and
Chicago before establishing her studio in the Napa Valley.
