Cocktail Trivia
What
constitutes the perfect cocktail glass? Let's start with a
size. For today's cocktails a 10 oz. glass is perfect. It is
large enough to feel like a generous drink, but still be
manageable. Next is shape. The glass should stand 6 to 7
inches tall. The base should be 3 to 3 1/2 inches in diameter
with the mouth being slightly larger. Finally comes style,
which is much more personal. The martini is nicknamed "the
see-through," so the glass should really be clear. The stem
should flow to the bottom of the bowl without interruption or
a seam. Personally we like a larger
Martini glass. Preferably 12 to 14 oz. with a much wider rim.
This allows for far more personalization in garnishes and
cocktail rimmers. We have found what we feel are the most
beautiful martini glasses anywhere. They are made by Opus
Crystal in Largo, Florida. Here is an example.
